Tanjungpandan – A total of 19 participants of the Wonderful Sail to Indonesia 2022 from eight countries arrived at the Belitung traditional house in Tanjungpandan, Belitung Regency, on Thursday (10/27) afternoon.
Wonderful Sail to Indonesia participants came from eight countries, namely Ireland, France, Australia, Scotland, the Netherlands, Portugal, Germany, and the Philippines.
Arriving at the traditional house, the group was greeted with the Welcome dance and the Kapur Sirih tradition.
The delegation was received directly by the Regent of Belitung, Sahani Saleh, Vice Regent of Belitung, Isyak Meirobie, Head of the Belitung Tourism Department, Annyta, and Chairman of the Belitung Traditional Malay Institute (LAM), Abdul Hadi Ajin.
Belitung Regent Sahani Saleh draped a scarf and handed over souvenirs to representatives of the participants as a welcome greeting to Bumi Laskar Pelangi (famous nickname of the Island).
Furthermore, the participants of Wonderful Sail to Indonesia 2022 were invited to enjoy bedulang meal or “makan bedulang” (the typical culture of Belitung Malay’s eating together).
Before tasting the bedulang meal, the participants received an explanation from the guide about the procedures and philosophical meanings contained in the bedulang eating tradition.
The participants were seen very enthusiastic about eating bedulang, they sat in a circle of four.
The head of the Belitung Tourism Department, Annyta, told BelitongToday.com after the welcoming ceremony that the participants of Wonderful Sail to Indonesia consisted of 19 people from eight countries.
“This morning they were taken to the maritime museum, then to the Geopark Information Center (GIC) for information about Belitung Geopark,” said Annyta.
She hoped that Sail to Indonesia 2022 participants can promote Belitung to the outside world as a beautiful and clean tourist destination.
“We also offer tour packages to them,” she explained.
In the future, Annyta hoped that Sail to Indonesia will continue to run so that it can promote Belitung as a tourism spot to the international community.
