BelitongToday, Sijuk – The delegates of 2023 ASEAN HLTF-EI conducted coral reef planting activities in the Bird Island area, Sijuk, Friday (3/3).
The reef planting activity was part of the agenda of the 2023 ASEAN HLTF-EI 2023 delegates while in Belitung.
Before conducting coral reef planting activities, the delegates also signed on the coral reef.
Deputy of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs for Regional Cooperation, Edi Prio Pambudi said that during the three-day implementation of the Asean HLTF-EI, the delegates were very happy.
The delegates were happy because they could hold meetings on the beautiful beach of Belitung.
“A lot was agreed from yesterday’s discussion, including agreement on the implementation of blue economy by ASEAN members,” he explained.
According to Edi, coral reef planting is one of the important points to show Indonesia’s seriousness in the blue economy.
“This is a form of ASEAN’s seriousness in developing blue economy,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Thailand’s Head of Delegation, Chatima Lemsawasdikul said it was her first time to sign and see the process of planting coral reefs.
“This is a new experience. We really appreciates Indonesia which is fully committed to nature conservation and the blue economy,” she said.
Meanwhile, VIce Regent of Belitung, Isyak Meirobie said that planting coral reefs was one of Belitung and Indonesia’s commitments to preserve nature.
“We invite them to see the potential of natural beauty of Belitung, this is part of the Unesco Global Geopark. They are very enthusiastic about visiting this natural tourist destination in Belitung,” he added.
After signing and planting coral reefs, the delegates did a “Hopping Island” activity in the waters of Lengkuas Island. (Angga)
