BelitongToday, Manggar – Acting Governor of the Bangka Belitung Islands (Babel), Suganda Pandapotan Pasaribu said that halal certificates are very important for MSMEs on Belitong Island.
This is, according to Pasaribu, due to halal certification, tourists will be more confident to buy products from the region.
Pasaribu conveyed this to the media after the halal supervisor training event organized by the Cooperative and Small and Medium Enterprises Department of Bangka Belitung Province, Tuesday (6/13) at the SHBN Beltim meeting room.
“As we know that the majority of our people are Muslims. Thus, this halal certificate can convince them that all food and beverages have guaranteed quality and cleanliness,” he added.
Moreover, by having a halal certificate, the economy in East Belitung can increase since it carries Islamic rules in selling MSME products.
The total number of participants (MSMEs) who attended the halal supervisor activity was 64 people.
The participants consisted of MSMEs from East Belitung Regency and Belitung Regency.
According to him, of the 184 thousand MSMEs in Babel Province, only about 22 percent have halal certificates for their products.
Therefore, to overcome this problem, he prepared a strategy through the Gule Kabong program he initiated. This is a way to encourage entrepreneurs to be able to register their businesses to have halal certificates.
Through this program, he stated that he would go directly to the community. Including inviting entrepreneurs to get halal certificates.
“Because halal certificates are mandatory for entrepreneurs starting October 2024. There is a law that regulates it,” he concluded. (Mario)
