BelitongToday, Jakarta – Belitung Regent, H. Djoni Alamsyah Hidayat held a direct meeting with the Bulgarian Ambassador to Indonesia, H. E. Tanya Dimitrova, at the Meeting Room of the Bulgarian Embassy to Indonesia, Menteng, Central Jakarta.
The meeting was ahead of her working visit to Belitung Regency on June 2-4, 2025 together with the former Deputy Prime Minister of Bulgaria and former Minister of Education of Bulgaria, Professor Merlena Kuneva who now serves as a lecturer at Europe Collage in Bruges.
The meeting was a follow-up to the initiation of cooperation between the Government of Bulgaria and the Belitung Regency Government in October. At that time, the Bulgarian Ambassador, H. E. Tanya Dimitrova visited Belitung and held a meeting with Acting Regent of Belitung, Mikron Antariksa and other related government officials to discuss a number of possible collaborations, especially in the Tourism, Fisheries and Marine, and Education sectors.
There are four main points of cooperation that underline the meeting as conveyed by Djoni Alamsyah Hidayat to Tanya Dimitrova. Namely first, the promotion of Belitung Tourism in Europe, especially to Bulgarian tourists to be able to make Belitung as one of the choices of traveling.
Secondly, Food Processing, especially Fisheries and Marine products which are considered very potential to be developed.
Third, the development of Human Resources (HR), especially cooperation with universities in Bulgaria and Belitung.
And fourth, waste processing. The specifications are in the form, technology, management, and infrastructure that can be applied in Belitung.
In line with these main points, specifically in the Tourism and Waste Management sectors, Tanya Kurdova said that, in the near future, she would hold an online meeting between the Government of Bulgaria, the Belitung Regency Government, and the Mayor of Tunja-Bulgaria. This online meeting will be held in order to share experiences and find what things could be applied in Belitung, in terms of good waste management and the use of appropriate technology. This considers that the City of Tunja is one of the best tourist cities in Bulgaria which is considered capable of processing waste as optimally as possible.
In the field of education, the Bulgarian Government is also willing to help the Belitung Regency Government to develop the quality of universities in Belitung.
For this reason, in early June, She and the former Minister of Education of Bulgaria will conduct a Studium Generale at the Belitung Polytechnic.
Tanya Kurdova also offered a number of scholarships for Belitung students to study in Bulgaria for bachelor and master programs.
As for food processing, the Bulgarian Government will facilitate a meeting between the Belitung Regency Government and food processing industry players in the country. Therefore, in the future, Belitung will have processed products on an international scale and ready for export. Not raw products like today.
The Head of Belitung Region, H. Djoni Alamsyah, welcomed this cooperation initiative and would be happy to wait for the presence and facilitate the meeting of Tanya Dimitrova and her entourage in early June.
