BelitongToday, Manggar – The East Belitung Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) has asked the local government to immediately realize the construction of a port that has become the expectancy of the community.
The port is considered by the House to be able to revive the economy in East Belitung.
This was conveyed by the House in a special plenary meeting regarding the recommendations of the Special Committee (Pansus). Special Committee on the Regent’s Accountability Report (LKPJ) for the 2022 fiscal year, Monday (5/15).
Chairman of the committee, Jafri, said the unrealized port development remains a problem that they continue to highlight every year. The development is vital since it is a sea transportation route. It is also the distribution route of logistical needs of the people of East Belitung.
Therefore, they hope that the relevant Regional Departments will immediately realize the construction of the Manggar ferry port.
In addition, the Golkar party politician asked the local government to improve lighting on public roads and open space parks.
“We have to optimize street lighting, especially at accident and crime hotspots,” said Jafri regarding the transportation sector.
The East Belitung House also asked the relevant departments to optimize the maintenance of Public Street Lighting in East Belitung. Public Street Lighting (Penerangan Jalan Umum/PJU) is very important in community mobility, especially at night.
“The lack of department’s supervision of road equipment facilities such as traffic signs and road markings is one recommendation in the transportation sector,” he concluded. (Mario)
