BelitongToday, Sijuk – The 2022 World Ocean Assessment (WOA) meeting took place at the Sheraton Hotel, Tanjung Binga, Sijuk District, Belitung Regency on December 13-15.
There were 31 delegates from 20 countries attended the meeting of world marine researchers and experts.
The Regent of Belitung, Sahani Saleh welcomed all participants and delegations of WOA 2022.
“We are very happy that the WOA is taking place in Belitung, I hope the delegates will feel happy and feel at home on this beautiful island,” he said while giving remarks before the 2022 WOA delegates, Tuesday (13/12) morning.
Sanem, as he is affectionately known, hoped that this meeting can provide many benefits for maritime affairs in Indonesia and the world.
“Moreover, Indonesia is an archipelago, the Indonesian government through President Jokowi aspires to make Indonesia a world maritime axis,” he explained.
Sanem added, the local government together with the local community always protect the sea and all its potential to provide benefits for Indonesia and the world.
“Have a nice meeting of the 2022 WOA in this beautiful island,” he said.
Meanwhile, one of the delegates from Australia, Karen Evans, thanked Belitung and Indonesia for holding this workshop.
“We also thank the experts from five continents who came to this event. Our job is to hear the experts and get input regarding ocean sustainability,” he explained. (Angga)
