BelitongToday, Tanjungpandan – Chili production in Belitung Regency until August 2022 was recorded at 239.78 tons.

The amount of production is the yield of all chili farmers in Belitung spread over several sub-districts.

“As of August, chili production was recorded at 239.78 tons,” said Head of the Food Crops and Horticulture Division of the Belitung Food and Agriculture Department, Tenny Meireni, Sunday (10/23).

Tenny explained, the chili productiondata is for the period of August 2022, while the chili production data for September 2022 is still in the process of being calculated.

“While data of September has not yet been entered,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Belitung chili production target in 2023 is 453 tons. This number increased from the chili production target in 2022 which was 435 tons.

According to her, the increase in local chili production is expected to stabilize chili prices at the market level, so that it can benefit consumers and farmers.

“This is also to control inflation, because chili is often a trigger or contributor to inflation,” she explained. (azriel)
