BelitongToday, Tanjungpandan – The wave of demonstrations toward PT Foresta Lestari Dwikarya from residents of six villages in Membalong District continues.
The masses came to the Belitung Regent’s office, to bring and convey their aspirations and demands of the residents, Thursday (7/20). Hundreds of people using trucks arrived at the Belitung Regent’s office on late afternoon.
The coordinator, Martoni, along with representatives from six villages in Membalong District held an audience in the meeting room of the office.
The hearing was led by Assistant of Region’s Secretary of Belitung Regency, Adnizar. Belitung Parliament Chairman Ansori, Police Chief AKBP Didik Subiyakto, and Military Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Inf Hairil Achmad also attended the hearing. Likewise, a representative of the Foresta Lestari Dwikarya company, Fitrizal Zakhir.
Martoni said that their arrival at the Belitung Regent’s office was to reiterate the demands of the community against PT Foresta Lestari Dwikarya.
“We have not finished discussing the facilitation system from the company. Because, earlier at Foresta office, there was an incident by the company’s personnel so that the hearing was stopped. The incident was caused by company’s personnel, not the anarchist actions of the demonstrators,” said Martoni.
He added that the demands of the community are still the same. That is, demanding to get 20 percent of plasma in the Cultivation Rights of PT Foresta Lestari Dwikarya.
“We ask for company policy, we haven’t got plasma for 28 years. Our traditional leaders are also upset because it turns out that Foresta’s Cultivation Rights has been extended,” he explained.
Investigate Foresta’s Land Outside Cultivation Rights
In addition, Martoni also requested that the local government form a team. This team to investigate allegations that PT Foresta Lestari Dwikarya had plantations outside the Cultivation Rights.
This team, Martoni continued, he hoped could unmask the company that had often been naughty and lied to the community.
“Please investigate this again as soon as possible. Because, there is a crime if the company carries out plantation activities outside the Cultivation Rights,” he added.
He explained that the results of the hearing was not results he expected.
Thus, said Martoni, based on the agreement of people from six villages, his party will continue to close the operation of the PT Foresta Lestari Dwikarya factory until they get an answer from the company.
“This is our agreement from six villages, not me personally. Don’t let anyone say that Martoni is a terrorist, Martoni is a provocateur. It has become an agreement that before this problem is resolved, we will stop the factory activities,” he explained.
He appealed to the protesters not to be anarchist during the action to stop factory operations.
“I need to appeal to the protesters not to do strange and anarchic things. Do not let our main goal of fighting for community rights be hampered because of selfishness,” he concluded. (Tim)
