Q: What is the strategy for the Belitung Tourism Department to increase tourist visits to Belitung at the end of this year’s momentum?
A: First, we are still continuing to improve the tourism aspects; we continue to improve tourism destinations, geosites, and tourism human resources in the last two to three years. Even though the Covid-19 pandemic is still having an effect, we still carry out capacity building for them, both communities and tourism actors. On the other hand, in 2022 we are starting to promote abroad, although it has not been as lively as before the pandemic, but we are starting to try to carry out promotional activities other than free promotions carried out by UNESCO. As we know that Belitung has become Unesco Global Belitung Geopark (UGG) which means we have been promoted for free by Unesco. This causes many foreign tourists to enter Belitung, they try to find information from UNESCO and then they enter Belitung to visit geosites in Belitung, and the development is significant for the foreign tourists. The graph is not decreasing because their information is directly from UNESCO.

Q: How is the calendar of events for Belitung 2023? What activities are being prepared?
A: We are compiling the calendar of events for Belitung 2023 with colleagues from the Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD) and from the sub-districts because some of our events are at the sub-district level, and several events on a district and national level, and even international level. We put these events together in the calendar event, later we will add the data so that for 2023 there are quite a lot of events. Hopefully, our condition can really recover and all events run smoothly both nationally and internationally.
