BelitongToday, Tanjungpandan – After attending the commemoration of the 77th Anniversary of the Indonesian Teachers Association (PGRI) and National Teacher’s Day (HGN) 2022 at the Belitung Maritime Museum Courtyard, Friday (11/25) Vice Regent of Belitung, Isyak Meirobie invited BelitongToday to review the readiness of the Maritime Museum Belitung in welcoming the 2022 World Ocean Assessment (WOA).

To BelitongToday, Isyak explained that the Belitung Maritime Museum will be one of the locations visited by delegates from 22 participating countries in the 2022 World Ocean Assessment (WOA) on 12-15 December.

Isyak explained, the 2022 WOA delegates would enter from the main gate of the Belitung Maritime Museum which is located on Jalan Pantai, Tanjung Tinggi Village, Sijuk District, Belitung Regency.

“The 2022 WOA delegates will be greeted with a welcome dance and other welcoming traditions,” explained Isyak.

After that, the group would be taken on a tour to see and review the contents of the 2022 Belitung Maritime Museum which had just been completed.

“We invite those who want to go around to see the contents of the Belitung Maritime Museum,” he said.

Furthermore, the delegates from 22 countries will be entertained with the tradition of Bedulang, typical way of eating in Belitung tradition.

“You can eat bedulang here (1st floor) or above (2nd floor) because there is also a meeting room on the second floor,” he explained.

Isyak Meirobie said, the hope that the 2022 WOA delegations would visit Belitung Maritime Museum is to introduce the potential of maritime and marine wealth owned by Indonesia and Belitung in particular.

“That’s what we want to show how our maritime power can be recognized by the world community,” he stated.

Currently the Belitung Maritime Museum stores a number of collections of Sinking Ship Loading Items in the Belitung waters.

During the visit to the Maritime Museum, the delegates would be given explanations and narratives about maritime history in Indonesia from the colonial period to the present.

“The collection is starting to be complete and it’s just a matter of arranging it, because this has not been handed over to us by the central government, so there are indeed limitations for us to do the arrangement, but basically it is ready,” Isyak remarked. (Nazriel)
