BelitongToday, Tanjungpandan – The Head of Dukong Village, Tanjungpandan District, Min Tet, said that he strongly supports the implementation of the 2024 Belitung Chinese International Festival.
This was conveyed by Min Tet during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Belitung Chinese International Festival at the pavilion of the Dukong Village Chinese cemetery complex, Friday, March 1, 2024.
“The Dukong Village Government really appreciates and supports the activities of the 2024 Belitung Chinese International Festival,” he said.
According to Min Tet, Dukong Village is very proud to host the 2024 Belitung Chinese International Festival.
He explained that in his village there are thousands of Chinese cemeteries. Up to this time, every Cheng Beng celebration or grave prayer tradition is always full of pilgrims.
“We all hope that this festival will support Belitung tourism, especially in Dukong village, witnessed by tourists from both local and international communities,” he added.
Very Tolerant
Min Tet mentioned that the people of Dukong have always lived in a spirit of high tolerance. There has never been any commotion, fights, or even disputes between residents.
“So far, it has been harmonious, peaceful, tranquil, and high tolerance. There have been no riots and commotion since I served 1.5 years as village head,” he concluded.
Min Tet hoped that 2024 BCIF activities can foster interfaith harmony in Belitung so that it remains harmonious and friendly in the future.
“Like the words of the former Governor of Bangka Belitung Province, Hudarni Rani, who said that “Tongin Fangin Tjit Tjong” means that Chinese and Malay are all the same,” Min Tet concluded. (Nazriel)
